The Mycetoma Research Centre Honouring Mr Maragni Sanhouri

In the presence of HE, The Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research Prof Intisar Saguron EL Zein, The University of Khartoum Vice-Chancellor Prof Fadwa El Rahman Ali, The University Deans and senior officials the Mycetoma Research Centre had honoured Mr Mirghani Sanhouri Elshiekh, FRCS, FRCS(E), The Father of Mycetoma Surgery on Wednesday, the 15th of January 2020.

Mr. Mirghani was born in Shendi in 1937, had his primary education at Shendi Alrefeyia, the secondary education was at Wadi Sayedena School, and he is a  graduate of Faculty of Medicine, University of Khartoum, 1961. He got both the followships of the English and Edinburgh Royal Colleges of Surgeons in 1966. After training at the University College, London, and the Liverpool Broad Green Hospital on thoracic surgery he returned to Sudan in 1968 and to work as a specialised surgeon at Omdurman Hospital. He then worked as at Medeni as the senior surgeon for Aljazeera Province for six years. In 1975 he worked as a general and thoracic surgeon at Khartoum and AlShaab Hospitals till retirement.

Mr Mirghani was the Sudan Medical Council President (1990-1993). He was a part-time lecturer and examiner at the Faculty of Medicine, University of Khartoum. He also was the Sudan Association of Surgeons President, the President of the Surgery Board, the Sudan Medical Specialization Board.
